For peace and quiet, try the secluded rocky coves along the coast at Sion-sur-l’Ocean. The lively resorts of Les Sables d’Olonne, fifteen miles to the south, and St Jean-des-Monts, to the north, are a contrast to the pretty fishing port of St Gilles-Croix-de-Vie.
You can visit the lake at Apremont where you can explore the castle ruins, laze on the grassy banks with a picnic and try your hand at windsurfing.

Chateau de Talmont St Hilaire
Located on a rock, surrounded by water, the fortress of Talmont played an important part in the defense of Poitou against the invading Normans. Years later, several kings of France were made welcome along with Richard the Lion Heart during the crusade years. Nowadays you can attend medieval demonstrations during the festival period.

This waterpark in the heart of Noirmoutier is over 37000m and has more than 20 aquatic amusements. With slides and waves there is plenty to ensure that the whole family is entertained.
