Local Area
With its easy rolling hills and beautiful coastline, the lovely country in the far western reaches of the ancient district of Galloway is perfect for walkers, cyclists and nature lovers who choose our holiday parks in Wigtownshire.
This is a landscape steeped in ancient religion and early Christianity – make time to visit the mystical Torhouse Bronze Age stone circle and the ‘Wren’s Egg’ standing stones near Monreith – easily accessible from our holiday parks in Wigtownshire.
And the bay where the saint is said to have first set foot in Scotland is where you’ll find St Ninian’s Cave. The chapel dedicated to the saint lies in the Isle of Whithorn, a gorgeous little village lying at the southern tip of The Machars. No longer an island, it still boasts a very picturesque working harbour.

| This was our second visit to Whitecairn. The staff were very welcoming and couldn't have been more helpful.
The park is located in an idyllic spot, but to get to local shops, the walk is about 1.5 miles down a narrow road.
If you are looking for a quiet holiday, this is the perfect place. There are few resources on site, but as there is so much to do in southern Scotland, we were out most of the day anyway.
the caravan was very clean and well equipped. We left a psp charger in the caravan which they very kindly retuned to us without us asking for it. |
